Tsum Valley – The Himalayan Shangri-La

TRIP INTRODUCTION

This magnificent hidden valley of Tsum located in between the massif peaks of Bauddha-Himal Chuli and Ganesh Himal in the close vicinity of world’s eight highest peaks Mt. Manaslu. It is truly an amazing area and it is also known as “The Valley of Himalayan Pilgrimage”, Tsum Valley is situated in northern Gorkha district of Nepal.

The word “Tsum” derives from the Tibetan language “Tsombo” which means vibrant and stunning, the path leads up towards valley of the River Budi Gandaki and passes through the wild and unexplored country inhabited mainly by the people of the Gurung ethnic groups. On the walk a good cup of the local cultivated natural coffee and Tatopani hot springs will truly relax you on this exhaustive trial. The upper Tsum valley which is a part of the central Inner Himalaya opens up from a place called Chhokangparo, where the hospitable locals of Tibetan group “Tsombo” welcomes you with traditional Tibetan buttered, salted tea and local foods. The Valley of Tsum is exceptionally rich in cultural assets. The valley is dotted with gompas (Buddhist monasteries), chortens and Mani walls. The longest Mani walls which are over 250m at Dzong and Phurpe.

The valleys people have conserve steps of the great Buddhist Yogi Chyuchin Milareppa and story about Guru Padmasambhava circumbulation. The old people of this valley believe that they have seen or found the signs of Mehti, commonly referred as the Yeti or ‘Abominable Snowman’. The people here of Sringi Himal to the North. People in Tsum Valley still practice polyandry system and they have their own unique culture, tradition, & dialect. They celebrate the age old ancient Tibetan festival like Lhosar, Dhacyhang, Saga Dawa, So this amazing valley can be your quest for the raw and absolute wilderness adventure destinations, to be in the off beaten and time withered route of Tsum.

Day 04: Trek from Arughat to Liding 860m. 4-5 hrs Overnight camping.

Day 05: Trek to Machhakhola 930m. 4-5 hrs.

Day 06: Trek to Jagat 1,410m. 5-6 hrs.

Day 07: Trek to Lokpa 2,040m.5-6 hrs.

Day 08: Trek to Chumling 2,363m. 5-6 hrs.

Day 11: Trek to Mu Gompa 3,700m. 4-5 hrs.

  8. Any expense for early returning member due sickness, injury or any other reason. No refund will be entertained for any unused service.
