Druk Path Trek

TRIP INTRODUCTION

Druk Path Trek is an opportunity to experience Bhutan during your holidays. It is one of the finest treks in the most beautiful section of an ancient high-level mule trail. This trek connects the valley of Paro and Thimphu. One will also get to see and be part of the fascinating culture of the Thunder Dragon Nation.

On Druk Path Trek we hike to the altitude ranging from 2000-4200 m above sea level.  The trail takes you through forests of fir, blue pine and dwarf rhododendrons. This trek also offers hikers stunning views of Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the highest unscaled peak in the world. You will also see Jichu Drake and Gangkar Puensum.

Druk Path Trek starts with your visit to explore Taktsang Monastery. We take our trail through apple orchids and pine forest. Later we pass through Jele Dzong (fortress), which sits on a high grassy ridge. It will offer breath-taking views of Mount Jumolhari to the north. En route, you enjoy tremendous, panoramic views of snow-clad Himalayan peaks. You can also explore Punakha at the end of your trek.

En route, we come across clear mountain lakes, many yak herders’ camps. We will have splendid views of Himalaya along the Bhutan – Tibet border. If you are planning to trek in Bhutan Druk Path Trek is the best trek. Day 01: Arrive Paro

Upon arrival meet and assist by Parikrama Trekking representative. Transfer to the Hotel. We will provide a short briefing about Druk Path Trek.

Day 02: Trek Paro to Jili Dzong (3,480 m)

Today we will visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) in Paro. The trek will take you through blue pine and fir forests.

Day 03: Trek Jili Dzong to Jangchulakha (3,770 m / 5 hrs)

Today trail takes you through thick alpine forest and beautiful dwarf rhododendron trees. You may see yaks and yak herders around your campsite.

Day 04: Trek Jangchulakha to Jimilang Tsho Lake (3,870 m / 5 hrs)

Today we will see the magnificent views of mountains and valleys from the ridge.

Day 05: Trek Jimilang Tsho to Simkotra Tsho Lake (4,110 m / 4 hrs)

The trail takes you through dwarf rhododendron trees and Janetso Lake. You may be able to see the life of the Nomad people.

Day 06: Trek Simkotra Tsho to Phajoding (3,770 m / 4 hrs)

The trek begins with a gradual climb. On a clear day, you will have a spectacular view of Mount Gangkar Puensum.

Day 07: Trek Phajoding to Mothitang (3,770 m / 3 hrs)

This is the last day of the trek. Watching the sunrise from Phajoding is a treat in itself.

Day 08: Drive to Paro

Today we take a drive to Paro.

Day 09: Departure
