Bokta Peak Climbing in Kanchenjungha region

TRIP INTRODUCTION

Bokta Peak 6143m is an intimidating trekking peak that lies in Kanchenjunga region of far eastern Nepal.  Mountaineering Association of Nepal declared this “Mt. Bokta Peak” in “A” categorized climbing peak and the permits were first issued in 2002 B.S.  Bokta peak climbing follows the trail to South of Kanchenjunga base camp route to reach Bokta Base camp 5123m via Yalung glacier and with the magnificient sites of worlds’ third highest mountain Kanchenjunga (8586m), Jahnu also known as Kumbhakarna (7710m), Dhormo Peak (6850m), Nupchu (6690m) along with beautiful landscapes and carities of traditional cultures on the way. This peak requires serious and real trekkers as it is more technical, steep rocky and tough with exposure to rock fall. With fewer trekkers, this region is very different to that of other climbing areas and at the end of hard trekking day one can enjoy Tongba, a fermented millet drink by local Rai and sherpas.

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel. Evening: Briefing about Kanchenjunga trekking & Bokta peak climbing.
Day 02: Leisure day in Kathmandu.This day is required to make Kanchenjunga trekking permit. Overnight hotel.
Day 03: After breakfast , Fly Kathmandu to Suketar (1824m)
Day 04: Trek Suketar to Chirwa (1190m/approx. 5-6 hours walk)
Day 05: Trek Chirwa to Sakathum (1640m/approx. 5-6 hours walk)
Day 06: Trek Sakathum to Amjilosa (2490m/approx. 5-6 hours walk)
Day 07: Trek Amjilosa to Gyabla (2730m/approx. 5-6 hours walk)
Day 08: Trek Gyabla to Ghunsa (3430m/approx. 5-6 hours walk)
Day 09: Gunsa trek to Lhonak (4790m/approx. 4-5 hours walk)
Day 10: Lhonak to Pang Pema (5140m/approx. 5-6 hours walk)
Day 11: Pang Pema trek to Ghunsa (3430m/approx. 5-6 hours walk)
Day 12: Gunsa trek to Sinion/ selele Phedi (3546m).O/N Tented Camp
Day 13: Sinion /selele phedi via Selele pass (4854m) trek to Tseram (3870m).O/N Tented Camp.
Day 14: Tseram trek to Ramche( 4620m/approx3-4 hours walk) then trek to Kanchenjunga southern base camp (5100m) and back to Ramche. (5-6 hours walk).
Day 15: Ramche trek to Yalung glacier (4886m/approx. 4-5 hours walk)
Day 16: Yalung glacier trek to Bokta peak base camp (5123m/approx. 4-5 hours walk)
Day 17: Bokta peak base camp to Bokta peak high camp. Preparation for Bokta peak climbing with short training by our climbing guide. You will learn to fix and belay the rope and to ascend and descend. O/N tented Camp.
Day 18: Early in the morning, our climbing guide will take you for summit the Bokta peak (6143m) then return to the Bokta peak base camp. O/Nbase camp.
Day 19: Spare day for climbing, in case of bad weather. In this day , if incase difficult to summit the peak due to weather, then our guide will take to you for re – summit the Bokta peak and back to Ramche . O/N tented Camp. (approx. 5-6 hours walk)
Day 20: Ramche trek to Torontan (3256m/approx. 5-6 hours walk).O/N Tented Camp.
Day 21: Torontan Trek to Amje Khola (2340m/approx. 5-6 hours walk). O/N Tented Camp.
Day 22: Amje Khola Trek to Mamanke (1810m/approx. 5-6 hours walk). O/N Tented Camp .
Day 23: Mamanke trek to Kande Bhanjang (2134m/approx. 6-7 hours walk). O/N Tented Camp.
Day 24: Kande Bhanjang trek to Suketar /Taplejung (1824m/approx. 6-7 hours walk)O/N Tented Camp.
Day 25: Suketar by flight back to Kathmandu. Overnight Hotel.
Day 26: At leisure/ shopping or relaxing on your own. Overnight Hotel.
Day 27: Final Departure

* Travel insurance or any loss or extra cost arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as flight delays, or cancellation due to weather or technical problem, accidents, road blockage due to landslides or snowfalls etc will be extra.
* Any other costs whatsoever, that is not mentioned in the cost included.
* Horse renting and additional porters due to natural calamities during the trek.
* Tips and Gratitude for Guides and porters, driver according to custom of trekking in Nepal.
