Cho Oyu Expedition

TRIP INTRODUCTION

Cho Oyu Expedition is an expedition in the land of Tibet starting from Nepal. This mountain climbing is an ideal choice for mountaineers ready for eight-thousanders.  It is also reported that Cho Oyu is also called ‘Mighty Head’ meaning ‘god’s head’.  Cho Oyu is also known as the world’s sixth highest mountain. Australians – S. Moehler, H. Tichy, and P. Dawa Lama from Nepal in 1954 were the first to step onto the snow-dome summit.

While on a Cho Oyu Expedition we can enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountains. We will see the entire Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamlang, Ama Dablam, and other peaks of the Khumbu. This massif is the most straightforward, accessible, and safe to climb. These days there are more than four different routes on Cho Oyu. Tibetan north side offers several worthy first ascent possibilities.

We start Cho Oyu Expedition from Nepal with a travel permit of China in hand. We take a drive to Cho Oyu Base Camp which is at the altitude of 5000 m above sea level. Later we start our climb from Camp I at 5180 m. Later we will climb all the way to 8100 m above sea level. Once we reach the summit we take our time to enjoy the best panoramic views of mountains. Later we decent and take a drive back to Kathmandu.

It is a short technical section, yet the ascent path is direct. Cho Oyu expedition allows climbers to gain altitude without covering long distances.  Parikrama Trekking is offering this trek since 2000 with a 100 % success rate. Be sure to check other destination for your visit to Nepal and Tibet.
